The South Bay: April 27 Newsletter

We're back!

Hi, neighbors!

Allow us to [re]introduce ourselves! Things around here have changed lately…

You might remember this newsletter coming from your friends Jack & Sam. Well, Jack and his wife, Kenz, moved to Colorado (we miss you guys!). However, Sam wanted to keep this thing rolling, so he has enlisted the support of his amazing, talented, beautiful, hilarious fiancee, Lauren. So you will be hearing from the Thompsons from here on out :)

Anyways, back to regularly scheduled programming - weekly emails with the best events, latest news and fun finds here in the South Bay! Here’s what’s good this week:

Just a few stories that caught our eye.

Restaurants

We’re pumped about Calo Kitchen + Tequila.

Make your reservations now, because this place has rightfully become quite a hotspot. With a solid menu, craft cocktails, indoor and outdoor seating, fun decor/vibe, and friendly staff, what’s not to love?

We recommend the following: Short-Rib Enchiladas, Seafood Trio, Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita, & Martini Cafetero (their take on an espresso martini). Also, when you sit down, they bring you salsa, bean dip, and chips…all fresh.

Enjoy, and let us know what else we need to try!

Local Business Spotlight

Lucky Plants. Need we say more?

These people are the real deal.

The owners are a husband and wife, but we see the husband there most of the time. They are welcoming, passionate, caring, and knowledgeable. Their prices are low and they will repot plants for you at no cost. Their selection of plants and planters is beautiful.

Trust us; stop by, if just for the serotonin boost!

Who better to kick off this new topic than our very own cat, Layla?

Lauren adopted Layla in Manhattan Beach in 2023. She is part Maine Coon cat, part Siberian cat. Lauren likes to say she is 90% cat hair and 10% cat.

She is an angel and makes our life so happy!
