Restaurant of the Week
Bread Head 1129 Manhattan Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Get ready to have your mind (and taste buds) completely blown at Bread Head, the sandwich sensation that's taken Manhattan Beach by storm!
Founded by two Michelin star chefs Alex Williams and Jordan Snyder who previously worked at the acclaimed Trois Mec, this isn't your average deli – it's sandwich artistry at its finest. The magic starts with their custom focaccia bread, baked fresh throughout the day with crispy exterior and pillowy interior.
We went with Sam’s parents and all four of us got different sandwiches: Tuna Salad, Combo Grinder, Turkey Pesto, and their Muffaletta. We also heard that the cult-favorite is their Mozzarella sandwich (avocado, alfalfa sprouts, pickled red onion, and za'atar spread)…who knew vegetarian could be this exciting?
The Manhattan Beach location boasts a larger kitchen than their Santa Monica flagship, plus a sleek bar area, outdoor patio, and five TVs.
Whether you're grabbing lunch before hitting the beach or settling in for Sunday football, the vibe is perfectly casual yet polished.
Fair warning: once you experience these sandwiches, regular lunch will never be the same. Your wallet might cry a little (half sandwiches start at $13), but your soul will thank you.

Local Spotlight
ET Surf 904 Aviation Boulevard, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
ET Surf’s initials don't stand for "extraterrestrial," but rather for the shop’s founder, Eddie Talbot! He began the business in 1972, selling surfboard-building materials from a tiny shop across the street from the current location.
This store has the perfect blend of old-school surf shop vibes and modern expertise that'll have you riding waves like a local in no time.
Eddie has been running the shop ever since, making ET Surf one of the longest-standing surf shops in the South Bay!
Whether you're a complete beginner stumbling into the store clueless about wetsuits (their specialty!), or a seasoned shredder needing board repairs…the ET crew treats everyone like family. Their rental game is on point, and the staff actually knows what they're talking about – imagine that! Plus, they somehow manage to juggle both surf and snow gear, making them your year-round adventure headquarters.
The shop has the authentic neighborhood, family feel that chain stores just can't replicate. With solid Yelp reviews from stoked customers, it's clear they're doing something right.

Sam’s Weather Report
The forecast this week is giving strong “don’t mess with a good thing” energy. The same marine layer mornings and the same sunny afternoon, but now with a little extra warmth to keep things interesting. Highs hover in the low 70s near the beach, creeping up to a blazing 74°F by Friday, but it will hit a few low-80s days a few minutes inland. Nights are cozy in the mid-60s, perfect for that open-window sleep flex.
If last week was iced coffee weather, this week is “oops, I’m sweating through my hoodie by 10 a.m.” weather. The fog still rolls in like it owns the place, but the afternoons are starting to feel a little more summer-party than spring-brunch. Plan your beach days for post-lunch sunshine, keep your SPF game strong, and don’t be surprised if your friends from inland start “visiting” more often…they’ll pretend it’s to see you, but we all know it’s for that ocean breeze.
