Hi, neighbors!

Welcome to a brand new week in paradise!

Thank you for being patient with us not sending out a newsletter last week. We were visiting family in Kansas where we experienced 90+ degree weather with 90%+ humidity.

Safe to say, summer in the South Bay is top tier - even though it’s heating up here too!

Labor Day is this coming weekend - HUH?!?!? It feels like summer just started, but let’s soak up the sun and see what the rest of August has in store.

Restaurant of the Week

Atta Girl 1238 Hermosa Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

AttaGirl in Hermosa Beach is serving up serious Mediterranean heat that'll make you say "atta girl!" to Chef Alice Mai's culinary wizardry. This California-Mediterranean hotspot from the Simms Restaurant Group has been packing in crowds since opening in March 2025 and honestly, we're obsessed.

The multilingual pun in the name is genius – "atta" means "gift" in Arabic, and trust us, this place is exactly that. With a live wood fire creating that perfect smoky ambiance, you'll feel like you've been transported to a chic Mediterranean coast (minus the jet lag).

Three Must-Try Dishes:

  1. Spiced Lamb Bolognese - This North African-inspired masterpiece tilts toward sweet, smoky notes of cinnamon, cardamom, and fennel

  2. Chef's Plate - Reviewers rave to start here for the hummus, tzatziki, roasted eggplant spread, whipped feta, pickled veggies, housemade focaccia, and pita!

  3. Octopus a la Plancha - A standout that transcends the usual octopus-potato-aioli combo

Lauren came here with her girlfriends for dinner and they also recommend the Greek donut holes - they come out hot, citrusy, and come with a peach honey glaze.

Local Spotlight

Tint World 2416 Amsler St, Torrance, CA 90505

Tint World® Automotive Styling Centers™ announced the opening of its newest store in Torrance, California on August 16.

Owned by local couple Armin and Michelle Barandeh, the facility offers comprehensive automotive services including window tint, paint protection film, wraps, audio, detailing, and marine services!

For lifelong car enthusiast Armin Barandeh, the launch fulfills a childhood dream of turning his automotive passion into a community business. Michelle handles finances and operations while maintaining her career in financial planning. "This is a legacy business we're building for our family," she said.

The location fills a significant market gap, with the nearest comparable shop over an hour away. Community interest has been strong, with people expressing excitement during construction. The shop has already established partnerships with local dealerships for customization and protection services.

The Barandehs plan to open a second location in Huntington Beach, expanding their investment in the Tint World® brand.

Sam’s Weather Report

The South Bay is finally starting to feel like summer remembered our zip code. After weeks of mild “is this even Southern California?” weather, the heat is creeping in…and you’ll notice it. Highs are pushing mid-70s most of the week and climbing into the low 80s by Friday, which in coastal terms feels like a full-blown heatwave. Even Torrance is catching the glow-up, with inland warmth sneaking in to make afternoons actually toasty.

So yeah, the mornings still start foggy and indecisive, but once that burns off you’ll actually break a sweat walking The Strand. Hoodies are officially becoming morning-only accessories, and iced coffee has gone from fun treat to non-negotiable. In short: the South Bay isn’t just vibing anymore, it’s cranking the thermostat, and we’re all starting to feel it.
