The South Bay Newsletter: July 13th
Welcome to another week in paradise.

Hi, neighbors!
It’s another great day to screenshot your weather app and send to your friends in Texas, Arizona, Kansas, well….anywhere besides Southern California.
We’ve been thinking a lot about the newsletter. We received a ton of emails back over the last few weeks and realized that this might become more than just a little hobby for us.
We are nearing 3,500 members of this community and have been LOVING every single interaction we have with each of you…AND we want to keep writing/sharing content that is valuable to YOU…
So we have a question:
What else would you like us to cover?
Real estate?
More restaurants?
Specific types of events?
More local business highlights (or deals & discounts)??
Just tap “reply” and let us know! We read every response and we will get back to you :)
Now, let's dive into this week in the South Bay!

A few stories that caught our eye.

Restaurant of the Week
Big Mike’s 2431 W 190th St, Redondo Beach, CA 90278
Big Mike’s perfectly matches the definition of a “hole in the wall” spot, but holy sub sandwiches…this place is delicious. We’ve driven by this location a hundred times and always say “we gotta go there”.
Yesterday, we finally did. Lauren ordered their iconic Philly Cheesesteak and Sam grabbed a Hot Pastrami Sub (and we split Garlic Parmesan Fries). The sandwiches stood up the name above the door and were well priced for the amount of food.
The fries were so garlicky that we went through 2 packs of gum throughout the rest of the day…but if you are into that sort of thing, GET THEM.
They also have a location in El Segundo if that’s more convenient for you!

Local Spotlight
Creamy Boys 1136 Hermosa Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
At Creamy Boys, you’ll find they are serving up something special. Straight from New Zealand, they have ice cream that is made-to-order. That’s right, it’s blended fresh before your eyes!
Mixed Berry is their most traditional flavor: made by blending whole strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries with ice cream on the spot.
Our favorite, though, you absolutely must try…it’s called the Hokey Pokey: vanilla ice cream with crunchy honeycomb toffee crumbled atop each serving (considered New Zealand’s best-kept secret)!
With locations in Hermosa Beach and El Segundo, plus mobile trucks throughout LA, they offer incredible vegan options in addition to their usual dairy products.

We would love to feature your business in The South Bay Newsletter. Reply to this email & give us some backstory.
Sam’s Weather Report
Looks like the South Bay's weather has been stuck on repeat for weeks—like a broken playlist that only plays mellow beach tunes. Mornings crawl out of bed with the same groggy fog, hitting snooze until midday when the sun finally shows up wearing its “I tried” face. Highs stubbornly cling to the upper 60s/low 70s, low temps unenthusiastically hover in the mid‑60s. If you had to wager, you’d say Mother Nature got cozy in her routine and decided not to shake things up.
Surf-wise, it’s the same old love story: sunrise sessions calling your name with glassy conditions and soft 2–3 ft waves that make your longboard feel like the main character. Afternoons? Think wind, chop, and general “nope, go back to bed” moods. So congratulations, you’ve unlocked “weather déjà vu” mode—set your alarm, slap on a 3/2 wetsuit, paddle out early, and ride the echo of what has basically become Hermosa’s greatest hits week after week.

That’s all for now, folks. It’s a new week in the greatest place on earth; don’t take it for granted!
