Restaurant of the Week
Slay Hermosa 2620 Hermosa Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90278
Y’all are sleeping on this one. And we aren’t biased, even though our first date was here. :)
This lovely little spot is perched on a quirky triangular corner where Hermosa and Manhattan meet.
Slay Hermosa is Chef David Slay's love letter to California coastal dining. This isn't your typical beachside joint – it's a "Farm-to-Beach" concept with retro beach energy. They transform fresh ingredients from Chef Slay's own vineyard into culinary magic. There are 3 dining areas: the rooftop dining offers killer sunset views (worth the slightly slower service), the downstairs patio brings you close to the Hermosa action, and the indoor dining room is comfy and beautifully-decorated.
Our favorite appetizer is the Lamb Meatballs; just trust us. Other great options are the Rigatoni Bolognese & the Prime Flat Iron Steak & Frites.
Specials: ½ price bottles of wine on Tuesdays… Bottomless mimosas at brunch on Fri/Sat/Sun from 9:30am-3:30pm… Three-Course Prime Rib Special on Sundays.

Local Spotlight
Dudley’s Vintage Vinyl 22811 Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, CA 90505
Prepare for the standard reaction as you walk into Dudley's Records: “WOAHHH."
This Torrance gem is "The Temple of Sound" where owner Bill Dudley has been spinning magic since he was 15. This is Bill’s seventh record store – and lucky number seven hits different! Whether you're hunting rare pressings or just want to browse, Dudley's delivers an authentic record store experience that'll have you digging through crates for hours.
The selection is mind-blowing: vintage vinyl of course, but also…CDs, cassettes, band tees, posters, books, and other goodies for music lovers. Prices are reasonable and the variety spans every genre you can imagine.
But here's where it gets fun – Bill runs hilarious contests where you guess which beloved movies he absolutely hates for a $66 shopping spree. The man knows his music, but apparently he also has strong cinematic opinions!
Most who visit live within blocks, because it’s their neighborhood's best-kept secret.

Dudley’s moved locations in 2025; make sure you go to the right address!
We would love to feature your business in The South Bay Newsletter. Reply to this email & give us some backstory.
Sam’s Weather Report
Feels like the weather has been stuck in a time loop—morning fog followed by afternoon sunshine, highs stubbornly dancing around 72–73°F, and nighttime lows barely budging around the mid‑60s. It’s like Mother Nature found her go-to outfit and refuses to shop for anything new.
Honestly, nothing’s changed in weeks (in the best way). The weather’s on autopilot, and so is your morning routine: roll out of bed, suit up in your trusty hoodie, hit the beach at dawn, and enjoy the same comfy high‑70s sun with a side of sigh-worthy clouds. If routine is your thing, welcome to paradise.

In honor of Shohei Ohtani’s home run today while we were at Dodgers Stadium…here is his walk-up song:
Feeling Good by Michael Buble (Listen here)
That’s all for now, folks. It’s a new week in the greatest place on earth; don’t take it for granted!
See you around town.
Your neighbors,
Sam & Lauren
