Restaurant of the Week
The Strand House 117 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Let us tell you about the restaurant to end all other sunset spots.
The Strand House is perched just steps from the Manhattan Beach Pier, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give you a front-row seat to the best show in town: golden hour over the South Bay. Executive Chef Chris Park showcases local ingredients in vibrant, seasonal dishes (so the menu remains fresh and exciting)…
First, try the legendary wood-fired Brussels & Bacon. Second, the Braised Beef Short Ribs, which arrive in portions so generous they'll make your jaw drop. Lastly, order the Donuts for dessert (trust us!).
The Strand House also offers happy hour and weekend brunch (10am-3pm on Sat/Sun).
Fair warning: this place is not lowkey; it’s upscale. It can also get a bit loud…but that's all part of the fun Strand House vibe.

Local Spotlight
Redmond Lock & Key 2213 Artesia Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA 90278
Picture this: you’re 2 days out from a flight. You go to get your passport out of your safe…only to find that the safe is dead, with the battery compartment INSIDE… Well, this is where Sam found himself recently, and Redmond’s saved us!!!
This business has been a trusted name in the South Bay for 35+ years; it is locally- and veteran-owned, and operated by a family. Landlords, small business owners, and property managers rely on them for reliable, same-day service… They even collect and display customers’ Christmas cards. :)
The team at Redmond’s offers lock services, automotive key replacements, safe installations, and more. They run a full-service walk-in location AND a fleet of mobile units for emergency needs.
What sets Redmond Lock & Key apart is their reputation for professionalism, prompt response times, and a personal touch that you don’t often find in the industry. Whether you’re upgrading home security, or needing help in a pinch, Redmond’s delivers.

Note: they have since updated their sign :)

Sam’s Weather Report
You will never guess what’s coming this week—except you totally will, because it’s that familiar, slightly warmed-up version of the South Bay. Mornings still drag themselves out of bed under clouds and drizzle, then the sun saunters in around midday. Highs hang around the low 70s (okay maybe high 70s) with mild, mellow nights in the low 60s.
So yeah, it’s the same old coastal routine for now, but if we’re lucky, the universe will realize it’s October this week and start to give us the gift of sweater weather.
